Four-winged
Drosophila

One of the many joys of studying fruitflies with John Palka was learning to make mutant four-winged Drosophila and scanning electron micrographs as shown above. The second wing was not only anatomically correct, it was neuroanatomically correct. For an interesting comparison, look up “strepsiptera” on the web.
